I'm okay at this point if my mom wants to slay me for saying this.
We dropped Asia off at camp tonight.
Ahhhhh. Peace.
Asia is the sassy, back-talking, drama queen, absolute and total definition of a teenage girl. You know at the point where we say the aliens have taken over? Well, the aliens either never took over and she just is who she is, or they took her when she was about two. I'm beginning to think that nice Asia will never return.
This is Asia's first co-ed camp at Meadowlodge. Her second co-ed camp this year. Last camp she came home with a boyfriend. Conveniently they broke up just as she is about to enter into co-ed camp #2. Coincidence? I think not.
I wonder why they do co-ed camp at this level? Why not when they are six and seven. No. Let's save it for when they are 14-17 and their hormones rule their entire selves.
Is it just me, or is that not smart?
I do, however, have one thing to be thankful for. It's not that her best friend is going to be there. It's not that she has a couple of cousins there to keep her in line, or at least let things work their way down the old grapevine to my delusional ears.
Nope.
It's this

I repeat....This too, shall pass and she will amaze you in ways you would not have imagined! You will feel this aching sense of pride that anything that wonderful could have ever came out of you or you will just feel really relieved she didn't end up in prison! Tee Hee Either way...this too, shall pass!
Co-ed camp. I break out in hives just thinking about it. I'm sure she'll have a blast...and hopefully won't come home with a boyfriend. Eeeeeks.
Hahahahahaha! It should be noted that one of the "cousins" with her at this camp is a new cousin by marriage that she just met a few months ago. He's a very very cute young man and she already has a huge crush on him. So, ummmm, Rhonda? I hope you get as much sleep this week as I do....
Oh yeah. And one more thing. Asia is not like that at all. She's just misunderstood. She clearly has a wonderful heart, a beautiful soul, a creative mind and an incredible ability to do anything she sets her mind to do. That's MY Asia. We'll have to introduce her to YOUR Asia some time. I think the two would get along famously. :-)
Yes, well, MY Asia has offered to go and live with her Gramma who understands her and spoils her.
I said yes.
She'll be arriving next week.
Ahahahahahhahaha! Insert hysterical laughter here. I already raised a teenaged girl, thank you very much. And look how THAT turned out. :-)
Amen to a break! And I'm with Heather...hives over here too.
I remember the good ol' camp daze. I also remember sneaking over to the boys' camp when I reached a certain age. AND, I remember the QUIET that descended on the house the first time I dropped mine off at camp! Enjoy yourself!
ha ha ha. Directed back to my favorite post. 2 weeks and counting for school to start back up...I can't wait.
