I'm just curious....

Sometimes we think like we're the only ones to do certain things, or think a certain way. I'm not entirely sure that that is the case, though.

I don't think I'm the only one to wonder who thought to eat the thing that came out of the chicken's hoohaw.

I'm certain I'm not the only one who ever tried to bribe an anesthesiologist in order to "bump" her up a little bit on the list of patient's in need of an epidural on the labour & delivery unit.

I'm probably not the only one to ever almost bite her nurse, either.

I'm definitely not the only one who's forgotten where she put her two year old.

But, this next one has me a little stumped.

Does anyone else out there sometimes feel like they've forgotten something vital? And by that I mean their clothes.

I seriously do this. Not forget to get dressed, but THINK that I've forgotten to get dressed.

Is that weird?

About a year ago, I was heading across the street in our very busy University area. The light was red and everyone stopped for us. My oldest two ran ahead, and I was hurrying across the street with Liv on my hip, and suddenly TOTALLY freaked.

I actually stopped right there in the middle of the road to take a quick peek down, just to make sure I had my pants on.

And I do this fairly regularly.

Possibly it's something that happened to me in a past life? Or just my completely irrational fear of humiliation that makes me do something stupid in front of people (stop in the middle of the road to sneak a peek at my leg) just to make sure that I'm not doing something completely embarrassing around those very same people?

I like to think that my family will stop me if ever I do make this awful mistake ..... HAHA! Yeah, right!

But what if this is early onset dementia?

So, tell me, please???  Do YOU sometimes think like that??

No not about the clothes bit though. I think its because you just get dressed automatically maybe and your really busy and then it hits you at some point whether you have inceed got completely dressed. I think its just a symptom of doing things in a rush is all. Mind you sometimes I have gone out withthings inside out and I have a friend who has goen out with completely different shoes on....

I sometimes notice people looking at me funny and look down to make sure I haven't forgotten my pants.

I think Lilly's right...you're in such a hurry and it is automatic. I do that only I can't remember what I wanted to remember. You know that nagging feeling that you had to of forgotten something!

Lately I can't remember what simple objects names are, now that's scary!! Plus the fact that I turn 49 today it's bothering me just a bit. Oh well.

I sometimes..think I have forgotten to put on underpants...if I am wearing a dress! If I feel a breeze and then I try to remember did I put panties on....weird! But...not pants...I take one last minute before I go out the door and do a pantie check! For real...you should look down and makes sure your wearing your pants!

Oh yeah...all the time! I know my agreeing doesn't lessen the worry for you in the least. But I fear dementia as well. Like more fear than death or dying poor. I am forgetting many things. I looked for twenty minutes while doing a business call for my cell phone. That I was on. yeah. And I always have to feel if I have a bra on.

No, never done that, but with my mom at 75 now, I tell her to take advantage of it and mess with people unmercifully. She is just too much of a saint to do it. I look forward to it, so I can playhead games with others, hee hee.

Hahhaha. Yes. I do that. It's a terrifying experience. Rather like arriving at the office, only to wonder how I got there. It's the automatic things we do by rote that we just forget. And Happy Birthday to Careysue.

Hell yeah I do it all the time! At home I often just wear David's big shirts. They are loose and they feel fabulous.

I have hot flashes and when the sweat starts dripping I just throw the sweaty shirt down the laundry chute.

I can't tell you how many times I have started to go out to the road and get the mail (which is maybe a city block and came running back in because all I had on was one of David's big shirts and my unders.

And not even good unders. Just what I like to call "period pants" which are big ol' previously stained unders. Sure, I clean myself up before David gets home but this is how I get the most done in a day.

This little contest like "how much can I get done before I put real clothes on" ...

You are so not alone.

I sometimes think that something embarrassing is showing and often stop to check. I always check my feet when I exit a restroom and check to make sure my skirt is not hiked up! Very funny post! Bet your child would be the first to tell you if you tried to leave the house without pants!

I don't think I've forgotten my pants - but I am always running out of the house in my slippers - without my purse, or my cell phone and usually the kids shoes and coats!!
