I think it is a perfect day to tell you what I think.
On this fine day of Obama's inauguration.

I think that in this time of economic fear and upheaval that perhaps it's not the best time to spend over $150 million dollars to welcome someone into their new job.
I think that, while I understand the need to make a home your own, it could be done in a way that wouldn't cost tax payers God only knows how much, just to have a celebrity decorator fix up the new House.
Right now, while there is huge national debt, and companies going under, and people losing their jobs, don't you think this money could have been put to better use?
Like helping out the porn industry?
You could buy a few cars from sinking companies and hand them out to the less fortunate.
You could perhaps feed an entire third world country?
Yes. We all know that I think politicians in general are the scum of the earth.

This is a historic, significant day, and Obama hasn't spent any money on the White House yet. At least he is not going to give tax breaks to the rich. But I suppose comments from the perspective of sour grapes are ti be expected, and will not ruin the day for the rest of us.

I'm not sure it's sour grapes so much as common sense. But I really do hate it, and am sorry, when I offend people with my opinions. But they are that. MY opinions.

I am anxious to watch history in the making. I am thrilled that people are excited. But I completely agree with you about the frivolity of the spending for the 4 day welcome celebrations.
I think anonymous would be one voicing their opposition if this money was spent on the welcome of someone else.

And sweetie, if ever there was a day in history that deserved a bit of pomp and circumstance, a bit of glorious over-spending on celebration and HOPE, this day is IT! Even as a Canadian, a proud neighbour to my American friends, I share your joy today. Bring it on, Mr. Obama. Or should I say, bring it back! Take us back before Watergate, when we believed in the promises our politicians made. Bring us back to prosperity and honesty and faith. And bring us back to a world where we at least TRY to help our neighbours. Today is a brilliant day of hope. Congratulations!

Its an historical moment and I am sure he is a good man. But you are right, how can anyone justify spending that - oh wait on, they all spent millions just getting elected so whats a few more hundred million. Its wrong. On every level.
I feel sorry for him as he has been put on a pedestal. He is human and can only do so much.
People live on hope though so after 8 years of Bush - what can you say. As for these politicians they are millionaires in their own right so they are not going to feel what the average person does in regards to how hard it is to survive. They are all playing on a different ball park. A whole other world. I dont know. I really dont.
We dont get that kind of showy politics here I guess so its hard for me to really judge. 150 million just does not compute.
